Your Family session
Your Custom Family Portrait Session
So you've booked your session! What's next?
7 days prior to your session we will discuss location and select a specific time via E-mail. Remember, our session is scheduled around the sunset, that should help give you an idea of what time your session will be held, but you'll be sure to hear from me to specify!
I am so inspired by how a family connects and interacts with one another and it is my main goal and passion to turn your unique connection into artwork that can be displayed for generations. Custom photography is unique because it captures what your family looks like during a specific time all while capturing how those moments felt. I aim to capture emotion and interaction in a natural way, While I will direct your family, I avoid overly posed images and rather provide your family with prompts to bring out specific emotions, I take advantage of the beauty of natural light and use it in an artistic way to add an extra later of beauty and dimension to your images. I am beyond excited to be able to capture your family! Here are a few tips to help you prepare for a session with me:
Location: As I mentioned earlier, a week before your session we will discuss a location for your shoot. We can either shoot in your home, as long as there is adequate natural light, or on a location of your choice. It is important to choose a location that fits your families personal style. What I mean by this is if you are a family that loves mountains, shooting somewhere that incorporates them would fit your style, on the other hand if you love the urban feel, we can consider shooting in an urban environment. I have several locations that I shoot at regularly and can make recommendations based on your personal style preference. I also always love shooting at new locations, if you have a specific location in mind, please tell me in advance so I can visit & make sure there is appropriate light! Click HERE to visit a recent blog post I wrote providing tips on selecting the right location for your photoshoot!
Time: If we are shooting in your home, I prefer late morning, because that is when homes are usually lit up the best. If we are shooting outdoors we will shoot either in the morning or in the evening. The light is typically too harsh mid day. If your children are up for it, shooting one to two hours before sunset provides gorgeous light and atmosphere. The evenings "golden hour" is my favorite time to shoot, the warmth of the sun in the evening is just stunning to say the least!
Length of shoot: Typically my family sessions last anywhere between 45 minutes and one hour! I work quick to keep your littlest one's engaged and to make the most out of the light! Don't you worry, I am able to get a wide variety of images and can provide you with a diverse gallery, even within that timeframe.
What to wear:Your wardrobe should be comfortable and reflect who you are. Are you a t-shirt and jeans kind of family, perfect, Go with it! Do you love to go full glam, I love it! At the end of the day, you want your photos to feel like a true representation of your family, and every family is different and beautiful in their own unique way. I do not recommend matching but rather coordinating your outfits! I always recommend starting with Mom's outfit. Momma, this is your time to shine and be the true goddess that you are! I want you feeling your absolute best, so start with you, and build your family around that. Take into consideration the colors in your home when deciding on a color pallet, you'll be displaying these photos in your home after all! I've created a blog post with all of my favorite wardrobe tips that you can find here. If you have any questions regarding outfits don't ever hesitate to reach out to me & I'll be more than happy to help you out!
Props: I do not use props in my sessions, however I can be flexible If you have a specific prop you would like to incorporate into your session, please let me know and we can discuss options!
Your Children: remember that we are here to relax and capture to true spirit of your child! children are not usually fond of being told to pose or smile, It is best if we just give the children time to relax and try to capture their natural self. Don't worry if your child is running around and active, my favorite images are typically the ones where your child is busy playing and exploring, and yours will be too, trust me ;). To get the most out of your session, make sure that your little one has rested and has had adequate snacks and water. After working with and photographing kids for so long, I've compiled a list of my top tips to help your child rock your family photoshoot, you can find that here.
Lastly, here you can read about what to expect during a session with me
Please arrive and be ready to start on time! Remember, your session is scheduled according to light so it is important that we start on time to get the most out of your session! Please be sure you accommodate for parking :)
I genuinely can not wait to see what we create together! See you soon!

Your newborn Session
Your Custom Newborn Portrait Session
I am so excited to photography your beautiful newborn! This phase of life is so new, raw, exciting, emotional and fleeing! I am to capture all of that in our session together. My style is modern and authentic and I chose to photograph in a documentary style. This means that I will come into your home and beautifully capture this fleeting moment in time. Keep reading to get an idea of what to expect in our session together as well as a few tips to help you best prepare!
Day of session: When I arrive at your home, together we’ll take a tour to find the space with the best lighting. This can be the master bedroom, nursery, living room, or even a guest room. We’ll utilize spaces like beds, couches, rocking chairs, changing tables, etc., wherever the light takes us, we will go. I’ve experienced having a newborn twice, so please believe me when I say this, there is no need to clean prior to your session, there’s no judgement on my end, and we will work around it and can easily straighten up if needed!
Time: Mid morning is the best time of day to take photos in the home. This is when the sun is still low enough to shine beautifully through your windows. Typically, around 10:30am is best.
What to wear: The most important thing to remember when selecting what to wear to your photoshoot is to be comfortable and stick to your family’s personal style. Of course, you’ll want to put your best foot forward since you’ll be displaying these photos in your home. To help make things a little easier I’ve compiled all of my favorite wardrobe tips in this blog post. If you have any additional questions or would like additional help or feedback, please feel free to ask! I love helping to select wardrobe!
Your baby: Your newborn is perfect just as they are, I don’t force babies to sleep or do anything else that feels uncomfortable, unnatural, or unsafe to them. Inevitably, your baby will sleep and be awake through the session, which gives you a great variety throughout your session! I suggest you dress your newborn in a well-fitting onesie that is solid in color without any graphics or words or a cute & snug fitting newborn outfit. Feel free to set aside a couple of options and we can rotate throughout the session! for little girls, bows are always a sweet addition. At some point I’ll likely take off the onesie to get some nude or near nude images. Please also gather up and couple of your favorite blankets for swaddling. I recommend feeding you baby around 15-20 minutes before I arrive and giving them a quick diaper change. We will allow your baby be in charge of the session, if he wants to sleep, well shoot him sleeping, if he’s alert, beautiful, if he wants to eat, then he eats. Newborn sessions often take some time, and that’s perfectly fine and expected.
Feeding your baby: Feeding your baby is beautiful no matter how you choose to do it, bottle or breast. I will capture you feeding your baby should they need to eat during our time together (typically they do!). If you are a breast feeding Mama, I will capture this special moment for you to cherish, but they will only be for you, unless you give me separate and specific permission to share them. Even in you signed the model release :)
Props: As a reminder, I don’t use props in my photoshoots, however if there is something specific you would like to use, please let me know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
Siblings: Again, having two children myself I can relate to what it is like to have a new baby in the house and the adjustments that can mean for the older sibling(s). Please know that I don’t put any unnecessary pressure on the siblings to do anything they don’t want to do. I’ll involve them early on in the session when they are typically more interested in what’s going on, then allow them to explore and play as they normally would. If they’d like to pop in and out of the session (which they typically do!) I’ll be capturing those moments too!
Mom & Dad: You are going to be experiencing some of your best moments and maybe even some of your lowest. You'll be both thrilled and exhausted, remember that I have been there and am now here to support you in every way that I can. This time is equally hard as it is rewarding and I want our session together to feel like a reward and a beautiful celebration for all of the hard work you've put in. I understand how many emotions are flowing during this phase of life and I want to reassure you that I am not here to make it look perfect but rather show your how beautiful your new reality is.
I am so excited to capture this beautiful season in your life! I want you to be able to relax, take a deep breath, and know that I’ve got you during your session. We’re friends here, and I truly want you to feel that during your session.

Your Petite Maternity Session
Your Petite Maternity portraits
I am so happy that you've decided to book a maternity session to go along with your newborn portraits. Pregnancy is such a beautiful time (although it may sometomes not feel that way in the moment) and I promise you that you will never regret celebrating these fleeting moments. As a Momma of two who did not get professional maternity portraits taken, I am so grateful that you will have these memories to look back on and cherish as your family grows. My style is natural and warm and my number one goal here is to make you see and feel how beautiful, strong, and powerful your body is. Creating and carrying a human life is no small feet & you deserve this!
My maternity images are natural, capturing who you are right now. My goal is to capture the beauty that is your pregnant body and to also capture the connection between you and the little soul inside you. We will also celebrate these last moments as a family of two, three, or whatever size your family is right now. I think it is special to have memories of what your family looked like right before the baby arrives. Now that you have booked your maternity session you probably have a few questions. I hope to answer all of them here, but if you ever have any additional questions please don't hesitate to shoot me an email.
Location:As I mentioned earlier, a week before your session we will discuss a location for your shoot. I also always love shooting at new locations, if you have a specific location in mind, please tell me in advance so I can visit & make sure there is appropriate light! Click HERE to visit a recent blog post I wrote providing tips on selecting the right location for your photoshoot!
Who is included in the session: This session is for you, your significant other, and children. If this is your first pregnancy, feel free to bring your fur baby along! If you are bringing children along, please take a deep breath and remember that I am very experienced in working with children of all ages! No need to worry about keeping them calm or forcing them to hold a pose and smile at the camera. I have plenty of strategies on how to keep your little ones engaged!Through the shoot they will be encouraged to snuggle, play, and explore, so please believe me when I say that you do not need to stress about their behavior, I will celebrate who they are!
What to wear: What is the most important is that you feel beautiful. I find that long & Flowy dresses tend to capture your pregnant body beautifully. They also tend to be the most comfortable and easy to move around in however please don't feel like you need to wear a long dress if that isn't your thing! If your session will take place inside your home, I don't think you can ever go wrong with A bra or bralette and jeans or something along those lines to show off that beautiful belly. What ever you choose I recommend keeping it form fitting about your belly, since that is what we're here for after all! Again, whatever makes you feel gorgeous is what you should wear! If you ever have any additional questions about what to wear, don't hesitate to ask, I am more than happy to help you out!
Bonus Tips:
-
Mama, avoid solid black...it tends to all blend together in photos.
-
nails - typically I don't even mention nails, however it's worth mentioning here because your hands framing your belly is often a focus of the shoot! I don't want you wishing you had manicured your nails when you see you final images :)
-
Shoes - be mindful that we often do a bit of walking during our time together. Wear shoes that are comfortable and safe for you to move around in! (for warmer months, feel free to forego shoes all together!)
-
head to google/Amazon and simply search "maternity photo dresses" there are sooo many wonderful options. You can also take advantage of Amazons "wardrobe" shopping where you can try before you buy!
